I enjoy studying Christian apologetics and contrary to how the word may sound, the word apologetics does not refer to the English word apologize, but to the Greek word “apologia”, pronounced, “ap-ol-og-ee’-ah which means to give, “a verbal defense,” or “to give an answer.” There are numerous bible verses associated to the study of apologetics, but the most popular verse being 1 Peter 3:15(NIV):
“…set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…” 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
I have a great passion for this subject, because I’m not only stating my faith, but defending it as well. I take this subject as serious as the people I care about. What better act is there in this life than to defend what/who you love, but not only defending, but defending with passion. Afterwards that burning desire will make it’s own statement. It’s this same desire that continues to fuel who or what I may love and separate my passions from my interests. In other words, it’s not because I have to do something, it’s because I want to; It’s the infinite distance between someone wanting to be with you rather than having to be with you. |
